Promote the application of science and technology in the water industry

Currently, innovating and improving production processes, applying scientific and technological advances in the clean water industry are very important requirements and tasks.

Vietnam's urban areas currently have about 750 water plants with an average total capacity of about 10.6 million m3/day, the loss and loss rate is about 19% (down 11% compared to 2010). urban population provided with clean water through centralized water supply system reached 88% (up 2% compared to 2018).

Among these water supply systems, many are applying information technology, advanced science and technology (S&T) solutions in operation management, to varying degrees. In some localities, water supply system management has applied integrated GIS digital map technology, mobile technology, cloud computing technology, integrated into a comprehensive management system for businesses. water supply.

There are also many water supply systems that have arranged and installed a central control system, an automatic water quality monitoring system; using inverter equipment, central control, to increase efficiency and save power, reduce labor costs... such as in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Binh Duong, Thua Thien Hue, Vung Tau ... Some water supply units invest in asset management software, equipment to monitor water quality and pressure, control water supply partition valves, through anti-loss programs and projects, loss of clean water revenue from the World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB), or from the support budget. These measures have significantly reduced the water loss rate in Ba Ria - Vung Tau (below 10%), HCMC (19.2%), Hai Phong (below 15%), Hai Duong (below 12%). ).

Many water supply companies have researched and applied new technologies, put into use new equipment, bringing high efficiency in production and business, such as inverter technology and soft start for pump units. , lamen deposition technology, gravity HDPE knitting technology, organic matter treatment technology and ozone sterilization, SCADA control system, chemical dosing technology automatically adjusts according to raw water quality, technology mechanical sludge treatment technology, treatment technology to recover filtered water...

In general, wastewater treatment technology at wastewater treatment plants, concentrated in urban areas and industrial zones in Vietnam, develops quite quickly and follows the world trend. Most of the wastewater treatment plants apply modern technologies and equipment, allowing the quality of wastewater after treatment to meet the standards and at a reasonable cost. Some drainage enterprises have applied modern technologies and equipment in construction and network management such as underground pipe jacking construction technology, mechanized dredging technology, culvert monitoring CCTV technology. drainage, computerization of property management...

In the coming time, in the period of 2021 - 2025, water supply and drainage companies need to research and apply information technology and implement digital transformation in water supply and drainage enterprises (customer management, asset management). , anti-loss, early warning of risks, anti-flooding, optimization of operation and maintenance, etc.), develop a roadmap and step by step deploy the application of a smart water system, connected to the components of the infrastructure smart urban floor.

Installing SCADA to monitor and operate the water supply and drainage network and connect to the control center; optimize energy use; switch from mechanical clock to electronic clock, install measuring devices with data transmission function; install smart pressure relief valves. Digitizing invoicing, integrating electronic invoices, connecting with customers via the internet, connecting to the cost center.

At the same time, install a system to record remote data, process information and issue control orders. Step by step building a digital database system, connecting discrete components into a common system, capable of data collection, information processing, operation, forecasting and early warning, assessment. , optimized synchronously.
