(Northern, Mekong Delta, Southeast and Dong Nai).

A bad scenario that can also be calculated is that by 2050, the sea level rise on the entire coastal strip of Vietnam will be from 21 to 25cm high and by 2100 it will be from 44 to 73cm. Not to mention storm surges, coastal tides, land subsidence due to over-exploitation of groundwater can make 10% of the Red River Delta, 15% of the Mekong River Delta, 14% of Ho Chi Minh City. , 20 - 30% of the area of ​​Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Hau Giang and Ca Mau provinces will be flooded by the end of this century, affecting about 20 million people and hundreds of thousands of businesses.

Facing this situation, the issue of ensuring water security and safety of lakes and dams has become the top concern of the leaders. In particular, changing thinking in managing and using water safely and effectively is a very important content, having a great influence on people's lives and socio-economic development of the country. both present and future.

Regarding water security, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khien, former Director of Hanoi Department of Science, Technology and Environment (Science, Technology and Environment) said that in Vietnam, in order to ensure water security, the National Assembly has issued legal corridor with many laws. These laws need solutions to manage the overall economic sectors using water, improve the adaptability of production, protect the environment, and ensure sustainable development.

According to Mr. Khien, there are four important issues when it comes to water security. It is to ensure that freshwater ecosystems, marine ecosystems and related ecosystems are protected and strengthened; ensure sustainable development and political stability; all people have full access to clean water at a reasonable cost; Vulnerable entities will be protected against risks from water-related disasters.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Science, Technology and Environment of the National Assembly Nguyen Vinh Ha said, surveying this content, currently 14 provinces and cities in the North Central region; central coast; South Central Coast; Mekong Delta; Northwest has 8 major challenges.
